In August 2007, I had a dream. To make a dream come true, you need luck or someone to encourage it through. I’ve got both. I’m lucky to share my life with someone I love and who loves me to ensure ALL my dreams come true.
In October 2007, I got the chance to start flying with a new motorcycle: a Ducati Hypermotard 1100S and since I have not stop.
Last week big news came out! Ducati released its new 2010 model now called Hypermoard 1100 EVO and EVO SP.
Those of you who have been following me online these past few years might know that I own a Ducati Hypermotard 1100S. I love riding my "Hyper". It is fun to ride, fast very comfortable. Its light weight makes it easy to ride in city traffic.
I do not find anything I dislike like about the bike in its performance or design.
The "hyper" has a dry-clutch multiplate with hydraulic control.
Yesterday I finally received my new motorcycle. Ducati Hypermotard 1100S.
I had a busy day ahead of me (Saturday I’m flying to Shanghai for 10 days).
I got some time on my new “bike”. Last night after the first 100 km I had a HUGE smile on my face.
My feelings were back. Feeling cloth to the one I had driving my 500XT, 15 years ago.
Driving the Hypermotard is like flying. When you sit on it you don’t feel it. She take you with energy over the road and give you a sensation of freedom in space.

J’avais une journée bien remplie hier car je pars pour Shanghai samedi matin. J’ai réussi à trouver un peu de temps en allant chez des clients à passer sur ma moto. En rentrant hier soir, j’avais un ÉNORME sourire sur le visage.
Mes sensations étaient de retour. Sensations proche de celles que j’avais en conduisant ma vieille 500XT il y a 15 ans.
Conduire l'Hypermotard, c’est comme voler. Quand tu es assis dessus c’est comme si elle n’existait pas tellement elle est légère. Elle t’emporte avec énergie au-dessus de la route et te donne une sensation de liberté dans l’espace.

Do I act like a kid when I say: “I want one!”, or should I wait until xmas for someone to buy me one?.
Or should I go ahead and order it?
Who the hell would be nice enough and/or rich enough to buy me a Ducati Hypermotard Motorbike anyway?
Let me think…: Nobody.
WTF Patrice? Just go and order it.
Why is it so difficult to decide? It’s only a motorcycle (hummm right!). It is not like changing A partner.
My best friend is in this kind of dilemma: “Do I keep the old one or do I get the new model? What should I do?”, he asked me the other day.
“Have fun with the young one” I told him.
Aujourd’hui j’ai vu pour la première fois la Ducati Hypermotard. La moto de mes rêves.
Est-ce-que je fais l’enfant : ”J’en veux une!” et j’attends Noël que quelqu’un m’en offre une?.
Ou je vais la commander?
De toute façon, qui autour de moi serait assez gentil et/ou assez riche pour m’offrir une Hypermotard de Ducati?

Pourquoi cela devient si difficile de décider? Ce n’est qu’une moto (hmmmm Ok mais..!). Ce n’est pas comme changer de femme ou de mari.
Mon meilleur ami est en plein dans ce genre de dilemme : “Est-ce que reste avec le vieux ou je vais avec le nouveau modèle? Que dois-je faire ?” m’a-t-il demandé l’autre jour.
“Change et profite, on ne vit qu’une fois” lui ai-je répondu.

Two Canadian students Ben Gulak and Jason Morrow (18-year-old high school student from Chisholm Collegiate in Oakville, Ont.) have created an electric bike witch run on the principal of the Segway and produce zero emissions.
Known as the Tango, it uses a R6 Yamaha sports bike frame and has reach a top speed of 40 mph.
The two students say that tango goes faster than the Segway and is more maneuverable than the Bombardier’s Embrio.

Better batteries are making electric motorcycles possible, providing a cleaner alternative to pollution-spewing gas-powered bikes.
The electric scooter that already exist with Lead-acid batteries or nickel metal hydride batteries are heavy (200 kilograms), while the lithium-ion-powered Enertia made by Brammo Motorsports of Ashland, OR, weighs just 125 kilograms.
Brammo hopes that the lighter electric motorcycles will be appealing to those who would be intimidated by a heavier bike.
In the past, using lithium-ion batteries in a motorcycle would have been a bad idea because of safety concerns. Conventional lithium-ion batteries--the type used now in laptops and cell phones--can overheat and explode, which has led to massive product recalls and at least one death.
In one of the electrodes, those batteries use cobalt oxide, a material that makes it possible to cram a lot of energy into a battery. But cobalt oxide is also volatile. If it begins to overheat, the material gives off oxygen, which feeds reactions that lead to "thermal runaway" and flames.
But the new lithium-ion motorcycles rely on advanced lithium-ion chemistries that don't catch fire. The new batteries use phosphate- rather than oxide-based electrodes. It takes much higher temperatures to release oxygen from phosphates, making the batteries very difficult to set on fire, even in safety tests designed to do so.
The Enertia can go up to 45 miles.
De meilleures batteries permettent aujourd’hui de construire des motos électriques. Une solution alternative pour réduire la pollution.
Alors que des scooters électriques existent déjà, leur performance était insuffisante pour rivaliser avec une moto, le poids des batteries "classiques” diminuant leur performance. Aujourd’hui cela devient possible grâce à l’adaptation des batteries Lithium-Ion sur des motos. La moto Enertia de « Brammo Motorsports » situé à Ashland (Or) qui a une batterie au Lithium-Ion ne pèse que 125 kilogrammes.
Une batterie Lithium-Ion (le même type de batterie utilisée pour les ordinateurs ou les téléphones portables) peut surchauffer et exploser, ce qui a provoqué de nombreux accidents et des rappels de batteries.
Une des électrodes de ces batteries utilise de l'oxyde de cobalt qui est un excellent conducteur. Mais l'oxyde de cobalt est également volatil. S'il commence à surchauffer, il dégage de l'oxygène, qui alimente des réactions qui mènent "à l'emballement thermique" et flambe. Les nouvelles batteries Lithium-Ion ne prennent plus feu. Elles utilisent les électrodes de phosphate plutôt qu’à base d’oxyde de cobalt. Il faut une température beaucoup plus élevée pour que le phoshate dégage de l’oxigène ce qui diminue le risque aux batteries de prendre feu.
Reste à voir les performances réelles d’un tel véhicule et son autonomie. Enertia annonce 70 kilomètre d’autonomie.
